What is distance riding?
It’s a sport where you ride a predetermined course within a specific time frame. Distances start at 25 miles up to 100 miles in one day! Intro and Novice rides are typically 5-15 miles.
Clinicians Barb Kurti (Tevis Cup finisher) and Maureen Fehr D.V.M., along with many other Michigan distancer riders will cover the following topics and more!
- What are distance riding events?
- How to feed and condition your horse
- Understanding the vet check, pulse, respiration
- What to expect when you get to ride camp
An early-bird cost is $75 for ages 17 and up, and $50 for ages 16 and under. Price on the day of the event increases by $15, so please pay and register before March 31, 2022! Payment is due via paypal at time of registering: oakleafrun@gmail.com (Barb Kurti, whose other contact details are listed if any other information is required). Register at Sign Up Genius. Refunds can be issued if notified 1 day in advance.

Lunch is included with snacks, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water. Every attendee will receive 1 free GLDRA and UMECRA membership (value $55), stethoscope and more. No horse needed. Dress accordingly for indoor and outdoor presentations.
